A Great Quality PSU Suggestion

samedi 3 janvier 2015

Hello everyone,

I'm in need of a great quality PSU to replace my 4.5 years old Thermaltake Toughpoıwer 750W Modular (which is reviewed here http://ift.tt/14lcNDU)

Even though it's still running fine, I'm not sure how long it will last and how good it's current performance as I'm also considering to upgrade my gpu soon.

I will probably use my good old TT to make my old core2duo system functional again so it will continue to serve me. :P

Before I name available psu choices that I can find here in Turkey I'd like to write down my current system specs just to find the best option for my needs.

  • i7 4770k (stock speed atm but considering a mild o/c around 4.2-4.4 ghz)

  • msi z87 gd65 mobo

  • corsair vengeance 2x8 gb 1866mhz ram

  • sapphire radeon 7870 oc edition (considering to crossfire or sli sometime after I upgrade the gpu)

  • 1 ssd + 3 hdds

  • 5 case fans + coolermaster hyper 212 evo cpu cooler

  • Thermaltake Toughpower 750w modular psu

So I'm considering something around 750w again as I want to be safe if I decide to make a multi gpu setup. Also being modular is a must.

I live in Turkey so I cannot find every popular brand or models here, like Antec, Be Quiet or xfx...

Here are some of the best options I found but I still need to choose one.

  • Seasonic X-750 (or 850 since i might not be able to find the 750 one). I heard a lot of complaints about coil whine on these units though. I know that it's a bit of a luck but from what I saw on the net it's a bit more frequent on these ones than other psu models. But still it would be a good option to me. What you guys think?

  • Seasonic m12ii 750w (or 850 depending on availability).

  • Silverstone Strider Gold 850W

  • Corsair RM 750w (or 850)

  • High Power Astro Lite 750W Gold

  • Cooler Master V750 750w

I'm not sure if I get another Thermaltake psu since noone is suggesting them anymore even though they had some good units before.

I'm also open to other psu and model suggestions, maybe I can dig and find one here. But I guess you get the picture.

I need your help guys to make up my mind. Thanks a lot already.

Best
