XFX 550 TS and PRO, Haswell ready

samedi 2 mai 2015

Hi all!

My first post here but i have been reading JonnyGuru reviews and forum for years.

I have 2 computers, with XFX 550w TS p1-550s-xxb9 and older 550w PRO but with same part number p1-550s-xxb9.

First information on forums were that these units are not Haswell ready. Info come from XFX supposedly.

I recently upgraded both systems to Haswell.

Everything works, even with C7 enabled in UEFI. No bsod, tried sleep mode also. HW monitor says that Package power in idle is around 4,5 - 5w on TS (msi motherboard, uefi mode) and 6-6.5w on PRO (asrock, legacy mode). With C7 disabled i got 7w on MSI (TS) and 8w on Asrock (PRO). I also have watt meter but I have very different graphic cards so i will compare both systems idle power when i take cards out. Asrock with 5850 is 12w more then MSI with 660. Wattmeter also measure more watts difference between C7 enabled and disabled but i forget how much, maybe 3-5watts on MSI with TS PSU, didnt measure Asrock with PRO yet.

Xfx states that p1-550s-xxb9 is Haswell ready on their web site. But, in specification there is this information:Max +12V Output Current (A) : 45

My PSU boxes are Max +12V Output Current (A) : 44
No Haswell ready stickers (they are 1 and 2 years old)

Did they changed something or are both of my PSUs Haswell ready or are they working just because there is more load on 12v rail from other components other then CPUs?

Should I keep using computers with C7 and dont worry?

Older 450 PRO (there is no 550 in archive) they also said its Haswell ready
