i bought a used PowerColor hd6950 1gb for a great price and i was looking forward to sticking in my htpc setup for the summer.
my question is, the power supply i currently have has only one 6+2pin gpu power adapter. the graphics card requires two 6 pin power plugs. can i use a 2 molex or 2 sata to 6+2pin adapter to power the gpu?
after doing some research i should be pulling no more than 320watts system loaded under furmark. 200w for GPU, 88w for the cpu and the remaining 30-40w or so for the rest of the system. therefore i concluded that my 450w is a decent unit that can at least do 350w 24hr/7days without problems and it should work without issues. im just worried about fire hazard or damaging anything because i rather save money and get a proper PSU or a different GPU.
my system specs are as follows and nothing is overclocked, i even limited the power to the chip at 108w max and turned off ASUS' turbo clock boost.
-Intel 4970k
-ASUS Z87i-Pro (equal to the deluxe)
-2x2GB DDR3 Corsair value ram
-Corsair LS Force 60gb SSD
-250GB WD Blue
-Corsair CS450M
thanks fellas!
